Internet poker has become world famous recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, arcs back quite a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the first poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely resembling 21 than traditional poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house rather than the other players. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is no bluffing or other types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up just before the croupier declares "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the other gamblers are given five cards each. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s initial card, you need to either make a call bet or give up. The call wager’s value is akin to your original ante, which means that the risks will have doubled. Giving Up means that your ante goes immediately to the dealer. After the bet is the showdown. If the bank does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, with a figure in accordance with the ante. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand defeats the casino’s hand. The bank pays money equal to your original bet and fixed odds on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
