Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the customary 52-card basic deck and a single joker. The gambler is assigned seven cards face up and the house is dealt 7 cards faces hidden.
One five card hand and one two card hand need to be put together from the 7 cards, the five card hand must be stronger than the 2 card hand. To succeed, a player needs both of his hand totals to be better than the dealer’s.
