Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
