Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
