Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
