NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 in which he enjoyed playing numerous card games at a young age. He found himself becoming really aggressive in the above-mentioned card games as he was competing against his dad. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a little while and moved to New York to compete in some big-time chess. While competing in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first two years were difficult as he would play many hours and lose a majority of the time. He made some additional cash by being an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He believed he might boost his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an effort to acquire more rest and concentrate more on poker.

The actual advancement in his game began when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best players would frequently compete against each other. Howard was able to access several of the foremost minds in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would tweak his cunning thinking techniques. He applied these strategic ideas to the game of No-Limit hold’em.

Howard Lederer also helped his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard Lederer told Annie Duke to head out to Las Vegas and compete in the WSOP competition. Annie is one of the strongest women players the poker world today. Howard Lederer moved to Sin City in 1993 and competed in money games for the following decade. When the WPT gained popularity, Howard made the decision to play more tournaments.
