Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five in which he loved taking part in numerous card games at a young age. He found himself becoming really aggressive in these particular card games while playing his father. After finishing secondary school, Howard made a decision to put college on hold for a bit and headed to New York to participate in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were rough as he would play countless hours and do not win most times. He made some additional cash by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He believed he could better his game by balancing his life away from poker. He made an attempt to get more rest and focus more on poker.

The definite improvement in his game began when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would regularly wager against each other. Howard had access into a few of the greatest players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would hone his strategic thinking techniques. Howard applied these strategic concepts to the game of No-Limit holdem.

He also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard told Annie to move out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the greatest women players the poker arena has ever seen. Howard Lederer relocated to Sin City in Nineteen Ninety Three and participated in money games for the next decade. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, Howard decided to participate in more tournaments.
