Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve last game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players in the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world might be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
